The inaugural meeting of the SLQS-UAE’s QVoice Toastmasters Club

The inaugural meeting of the SLQS-UAE’s QVoice Toastmasters Club and the club's chartering took place on September 17, 2023, at Glendel School from 7 pm to 9 pm. The club was established through collaboration between Toastmasters International and SLQS-UAE to promote the personal and professional growth of Sri Lankan QS individuals in the UAE. Division C of Toastmasters International provided invaluable support in chartering this club.

The elected club office bearers are as follows:

• President: Priyanka Karunaratne
• Vice President Education: Buwaneka Prabhakantha Hapuarachchi
• Vice President Public Relations: Sandali Bhagya
• Vice President Membership: Subair Mohamed Hafrath
• Treasurer: Roshan Wijethilaka
• Secretary: Punyamalie De Silva
• Sergeant At Arms: Mohamed Jasooly Mohamed Juzail

Highlights of the first meeting included TM Yathish Gowda serving as the Toastmaster of the Day (TMOD) with the theme 'Favorite Sport,' which was particularly insightful as the Asia Cup finals were held on the same day. TM Hafrath introduced the word of the day, 'containment,' which was used by many during the meeting. TM Priyanka and TM Punyamalie delivered project speeches for the evening, while TM Dilan delivered the keynote speech. TM Bhagya conducted a table topics session. Project speeches received thoughtful evaluations from TM Khaleejan and TM Patricia, and the general evaluation was conducted by TM Kumudini.

We would like to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Director, TM Soumya, and her team of Division C of Toastmasters International UAE, for their unwavering support from the inception of our club. Their support has been instrumental in our journey.
